Eternal SBI Credit Card: the full review

A ₹499 card that takes 10% off Zomato, District and Blinkit beauty and electronics, 5% off the rest of Blinkit, and pays cashback on Uber, ixigo, Apollo, Urban Company and everyday spends. Three separate caps decide what you actually get.

  • Eternal-app discounts

  • 5% partner cashback

  • 1% cashback

An estimate that assumes every rupee qualifies. Cashback skips transactions under ₹100 and is rounded down per transaction. Excluded items, EMIs and refunds reduce it.

The verdict: strong for Eternal-app regulars, capped for everyone

For ₹499 you get one of the best food and quick-commerce discounts on any Indian card. But the 10% is an instant discount with one ₹2,000 monthly ceiling shared across Zomato, District and Blinkit, and spend outside the partners earns a modest 1%.

  • Best fit: you already order on Zomato, shop on Blinkit and book on District every month, and also use Uber, ixigo, Apollo or Urban Company.

  • Not a 10%-everywhere card: Blinkit groceries get 5%, rent, fuel, utilities, insurance, wallets and EMIs earn nothing, and base cashback stops at ₹500 a month.

  • The deciding test: if your normal Eternal-app spend saves you more than ₹589 a year at these rates, the first-year fee pays for itself. Use the calculator above.

Caps and payout timing

The three pools are separate, so the theoretical maximum is ₹3,500 a month. Reaching it would take ₹20,000 of partner spend and ₹50,000 of other spend on top of your Eternal-app orders. The District movie offer is a discount on the booking itself, outside all three caps.

  • ₹2,000 discount cap: calendar monthCombined across Zomato, District and Blinkit (including groceries). It is not ₹2,000 per app.
  • ₹1,000 and ₹500 cashback caps: billing cycleYour first cycle runs from your first transaction to your next statement. In SBI Card’s example, a first purchase on 19 March with a 22nd billing date counts until 22 April.
  • Paid automatically, two working days after your statementA 15 February statement covers 16 January to 15 February, and its cashback is credited on 17 February. You don’t need to redeem it, and it doesn’t expire.
  • ₹100 minimum, rounded downTransactions under ₹100 earn no cashback. SBI Card’s own example pays ₹145, not ₹149.95, on a ₹2,999 purchase at 5%.
  • Add-on spend pays the primary cardCashback from add-on cards is credited to the primary cardholder’s account.

Refunds and EMIs take cashback back

A return, cancellation or reversal deducts its cashback on a later statement, and if that leaves a negative balance, you owe it like any other dues. Converting a purchase to EMI later reverses its cashback in that cycle, and foreclosing the EMI doesn’t bring it back.

Cashback only posts if the card isn’t overdue, blocked or suspended at the time. If the card is cancelled, unposted cashback is forfeited. The card is for personal use only; SBI Card can cancel it and withhold cashback if it finds commercial or resale use.

Applying and RuPay UPI

  1. Ankur Mittal shares the first card imagery and benefits on X.

  2. SBI Card and Eternal launch the card. You can request early access in the Zomato, Blinkit and District apps.

  3. Invitations to apply start going out in phases. Approval, limit and documents follow SBI Card’s usual checks.

The Zomato early-access campaign mentions the first 5,000 cards. That figure isn’t in the card’s terms, so read it as the size of the first batch, not a cap on the card.

Pick RuPay if you pay by UPI

The card’s terms give 1% cashback on eligible merchant UPI payments with the RuPay variant, within the same ₹500 monthly cap. The Mastercard variant can’t be linked to UPI. Excluded categories still earn nothing on UPI.

Quick answers

Does each app get its own ₹2,000 cap?

No. ₹2,000 is the combined monthly limit for Zomato, District and Blinkit discounts, counted by calendar month.

Is the 10% on every Blinkit order?

No. 10% is for beauty and electronics; every other Blinkit category, including groceries, gets 5%. Baby food, feeding essentials, tobacco and paan corner products are excluded.

Do Zomato orders also earn the 1% cashback?

No. Purchases that get the instant discount on Eternal apps don’t earn cashback on top.

When does cashback arrive, and does it expire?

It’s credited automatically within two working days of your statement, appears on the next statement, and doesn’t expire.

Is there cashback on rent, fuel or utilities?

No. Rent, fuel, utilities, insurance, education, government payments, wallet loads and EMIs are all excluded. Fuel gets the 1% surcharge waiver instead, up to ₹200 a cycle.

Is the card lifetime free?

No. Joining and renewal fees are ₹499 + GST each. The renewal fee is waived after ₹2 lakh of spend in the previous year.

How does the movie offer work?

Buy two tickets in one booking on the District app and get up to ₹200 off the second. It works once a month per cardholder.
