PNB credit card charges rise from 1 November 2026: utility fee, ₹99 redemption fee, higher late fees

From 1 November 2026, PNB charges 1% on utility payments above ₹50,000 a cycle, ₹99 + GST per reward redemption, and late fees of up to ₹1,200 (was ₹750). Applies to PNB Visa and RuPay cards.

Punjab National Bank has revised its credit card charges from 1 November 2026. Three changes matter most: a new fee on large utility bill payments, a fee on every reward points redemption, and higher late payment fees. The changes apply to PNB Visa and RuPay credit cards.

All revised charges are exclusive of GST.

1. Utility bill payments: 1% above ₹50,000

  • Fee: 1% of total utility payments once they cross ₹50,000 in a billing cycle.
  • Cap: ₹2,000 per transaction.
  • Threshold: counted across all utility payments in the billing cycle, not per transaction.

PNB's notice puts the fee on the total utility amount, not only on the part above ₹50,000. It doesn't explain how the fee is split across individual transactions.

2. Reward points redemption: ₹99 per request

This cuts the value of your points most on small redemptions.

₹10,000 to ₹50,000₹1,000
Above ₹50,000₹1,200

PNB's notice lists ₹10,000 in two slabs, so the fee at exactly ₹10,000 needs the bank to clarify.

Until now, no late fee applied up to ₹1,000 due, and the highest fee was ₹750.

  • FD-backed cards: the late fee stays at 30% of the minimum amount due, with a minimum of ₹200 and a maximum of ₹500 per billing cycle.
  • Luxura cards: have their own provisions in the notice.

What to do now

  • If you pay big utility bills on a PNB card, keep the cycle's total at or under ₹50,000, or move the extra to another card.
  • Batch your reward redemptions so the ₹99 fee is paid less often.
  • Set up autopay for at least the minimum due, since the late fee now reaches ₹1,200.
